Sherborn Water District Works Through Draft Bylaws, Flags Fire-Billing Gap

The North Sherborn Water Sewer District Commission, joined by representatives from Toll Brothers, Kennedy Wilson, and a prospective contract operator, worked through draft documents governing ownership transfer of infrastructure, metering, fire-suppression billing, and enforcement authority. A novel issue emerged over who pays when the Sherborn Fire Department draws from the district's private hydrants to fight a fire, with district engineer Liz warning that a single house fire could consume 100,000 to 200,000 gallons billed against the district's Framingham water account.

Prospective operator Jared agreed to provide an order-of-magnitude cost estimate for contract water operations within one day. The commission approved minutes from its December 12, 2025 meeting and set its next working session for February 19, 2026, with a potential interim meeting on February 5.
