Sherborn's water commission wrestles with how to fund a system it isn't ready to run. Commission Chair Josh told members he is "really worried" the district could inherit a new Framingham-to-Sherborn water main before enough customers connect to cover an operator, insurer and billing clerk, estimating gross revenue at full build-out of roughly $26,357.60 a month against costs still unknown from Framingham and Natick. Members floated withholding system acceptance until Toll Brothers' development reaches 75 percent occupancy, but agreed that once an unrelated party connects, the line becomes a public utility, complicating any delay.
Member Matt said early engineering-inspection quotes, based on 160 to 250 hours at $125 to $180 an hour, were too steep to bring to Toll Brothers for seed money. The commission approved its September 2 minutes 5-0 and set its next meeting for October 14.
