Sherborn Select Board Authorizes Court Order Over Unfenced Dangerous Dogs

SHERBORN -- November 18, 2025, Sherborn Select Board unanimously authorizes court action against Perry Street dog owner who defied a five-month-old fence order. The board voted 3-0 at its November 18 meeting to direct Town Counsel Paul DeRensis to pursue a court injunction against Andre Barros of 41 Perry Street, whose Border Collie Mia and Shepherd Pepper were found to be nuisance dogs in a May 30 order requiring a full perimeter fence within 60 days. Animal control officer Lieutenant Luke Tedstone told the board the rear quarter of the property remained unfenced and that Mia had chased complainant Alexandra Frank, a Maple Street resident and veterinarian, while she rode her bicycle past the property on November 12. The board also amended its original order to require self-closing gates at all fence openings and authorized counsel to determine whether daily fines, escalating from $50 to $100 to $250 per offense, could begin as early as December 3. Member Dan Sichel said flatly: "I don't think they've made an effort other than putting up a partial fence."
