Sherborn Board of Health Approves All Four Septic Variances for Old Orchard Road

SHERBORN — November 19, 2025 — Sherborn Board of Health unanimously approved four local-regulation septic variances for 84 Old Orchard Road at its November 19 virtual meeting. Engineer Eric Dickinson of Civilized Solutions presented the application for homeowners Philip and Samantha Reisinger, whose four-bedroom home has a failed Title V system on a site so constrained by ledge and boulders that test pits hit refusal within two to six feet in every location. The board approved use of a Presby Advanced EnviroSeptic gravity-bed system, with conditions including a deed recording noting a garbage grinder is "not recommended" and as-built notations that the conservative Class II soil design does not permit additional bedrooms. The board also received a proposed permit-fee revision from Health Agent Sarah Lapin — the first since 2012 — projecting an 11.4 percent revenue increase of roughly $7,710 annually, with three new fee categories added and some existing fees reduced to better align with regional averages and actual staff time costs.
