Sherborn Select Board Approves 90-Day Stop Sign Pilot at Brook Street Intersection

Select Board · Meeting of July 23, 2026

Sherborn Select Board approves a 90-day stop sign trial and hears calls to overhaul transfer station policy. Vice Chair Dan Sichel presided July 23 in the absence of Chair Steven Tsai, leading a unanimous vote to install a three-way stop at the Brook Street and Western Avenue intersection as a 90-day pilot, following a unanimous recommendation from the Public Safety Committee. The board also spent more than an hour on transfer station policy, where speakers including transfer station operator Josh Buckler said the town is an outlier in accepting commercial waste without fees, allowing non-residents into the swap shop, and operating five days a week.

Resident Vicki, a recycling commission member, told the board that "every month this board delays action on the transfer station, Sherbourne is leaving money on the table," estimating potential annual savings of more than $100,000. Town Administrator Jeremy Marsette was directed to develop a draft policy with bracketed decision points for a future meeting. The board also unanimously approved election workers for 2026-2027 and authorized early voting at three hours per weekday for the September 2026 state primary.
