Board of Health · Meeting of July 15, 2026

Sherborn Board of Health sets hard deadlines on failing septic, weighs in on state housing parcel, and launches solid-waste permit process. The five-member board, meeting virtually on July 15, voted unanimously to require the owner of 155 Maple Street to submit a septic replacement plan by August 31, 2026, and to have the system installed no later than December 31, warning that enforcement action would follow if the first benchmark is missed, after more than three years of delays on a failing cesspool system with no established design flow. The board also voted 5-0 to authorize Co-Chairs Julie Dreyfus and Daryl Beardsley to submit comments by July 24 to the Select Board on a DCAM proposal to develop an eight-acre state-owned parcel at Zero Prospect Street, recommending that any project be served by Framingham public water and sewer, that a Chapter 21E environmental assessment be required given proximity to the General Chemical contamination plume, and that the site be recognized as a Title V nitrogen-sensitive area (310 CMR 15.214) limiting on-site septic capacity to roughly 32 bedrooms.

The board separately authorized up to $150 to purchase permethrin and other tick repellents for DPW employees as a one-time education initiative proposed by public health nurse Gaila Barsa, and received a presentation on a proposed solid-waste hauler permitting program that would take effect January 1, 2027, covering an estimated eight to 10 haulers currently operating in Sherborn without a Board of Health permit.
