Sherborn Board of Health votes to pursue legal action over a long-failed septic system.
Board of Health · Meeting of September 16, 2026
Sherborn Board of Health votes to pursue legal action over a long-failed septic system. Health Agent Mark Oram told the board the owners of 155 Maple Street bought the property in July 2024 without a Title 5 inspection, then failed one in December 2025; town bylaw required the cesspool's replacement within a year of the sale, a deadline that passed in July 2025. The board voted 5-0 to seek town counsel's guidance on fines, a lien or court action.
In a separate 5-0 vote, Co-Chair Julie Dreyfus was authorized to press the Zoning Board of Appeals for more information on new well waivers sought for the Coolidge Crossing affordable-housing project, after abutter John Hargrave said his own well "runs completely dry" some summers. The board also introduced, without voting, a proposal to create a new director-level health agent position and a public health nurse position for fiscal 2028.
