Select Board · Meeting of February 12, 2026
Sherborn Select Board endorses $116,451 reserve fund transfer as water project costs balloon to $564,000. The board voted 4-0 Thursday to support the transfer for the Woodhaven/Leland Farm Water Treatment project after DPW Director Sean Killeen detailed a cascade of unanticipated costs, including $80,000 for bulk water trucking during a seven-week system shutdown, two failed well replacements, and $18,870 in extra excavation work after workers hit a buried Eversource duct bank. Total project funding from all sources now reaches approximately $564,000.
The board asked the Advisory Committee, which holds final authority over reserve fund transfers, to explore whether the Woodhaven revolving fund, carrying a balance near $700,000, could absorb some of the draw. Separately, the board unanimously approved an expanded All Alcohol license for Sherborn Fuel, authorized the Town Administrator to sign the best bid for a new municipal aggregation electricity contract (seeking terms up to 48 months with a national wind renewable option), and heard that the FY27 budget deficit has dropped from $850,000 to $176,000 following school department reductions and a 6.91 percent health insurance premium increase, well below the 15 percent originally budgeted.
