Sherborn Select Board votes 4-1 to pursue a December special town meeting fixing a 2023 zoning error stalling the Meadowbrook Commons housing project. Member Paul DeRensis abstained over scheduling conflicts, not substance, while Marian Neutra said the fix corrects a mistake "made in 2023" that could otherwise kill the decade-old development before the developer's land-purchase options expire in December. The board also signed a 2025-2028 contract with the Sherborn Police Association, ratified Fire Chief Zach Ward's new three-year deal, and heard that Sherborn holds $52,085.38 in opioid settlement funds, with six overdose deaths recorded since 2014.
"Anything that protects one life is worth it," DeRensis said, pushing the board toward faster spending on EMS and youth prevention programs rather than waiting for a new committee.
