SHERBORN — December 3, 2025 — Sherborn Board of Health sets a year-end deadline for a Title V septic inspection and approves a 14.84 percent budget increase request for FY2027. The board voted 5-0 Wednesday to require owners of 155 Maple Street to submit a full Title V septic inspection report by December 31, 2025, noting the property changed hands in May 2024 without an inspection and the system is presumed failed under state guidance until a report is received; if the system has failed, replacement is required by May 2026. In separate action, the board unanimously approved its FY2027 budget request, anchored by a proposed health agent line of $69,394.47 — up from an approved $49,455 this year — based on an average of 17.6 hours per week worked and a 3.25 percent cost-of-living adjustment producing an hourly rate of $72.95. Administrator Sarah Lapin, who built the request alongside board member Steve Constantine, projected the department will run roughly 10 percent over its current budget by fiscal year end, a pattern she said has repeated annually, with shortfalls historically covered by free cash transfers. The board also advanced a tiered food-permit fee structure projected to raise total permit revenue by 13.5 percent, though no vote on the fee schedule was taken.
