Sherborn's Finance Committee pressed department heads on spending and revenue accuracy at its January 14 budget review session. The nine-member committee heard fiscal 2027 operating budget presentations from the Council on Aging, Veteran Services, the library, and the Recreation Department, with the sharpest scrutiny falling on the Recreation Department's field-rental revenue accounting: Recreation Commission Chair Dave Walsh acknowledged that two years of unbilled rentals inflated fiscal 2025 actuals, and that trailing 12-month recurring revenue is closer to $120,000 rather than the $100,000 budgeted. Library Director Liz reported the library's endowment now stands at $2.9 million, with trustees committing a proposed $91,942 to offset the town's operating budget in fiscal 2027 — a 10 percent increase over the prior year.

Town Finance Director Jeremy relayed that the Select Board signaled it would not support a Proposition 2.5 override and would keep the reserve fund at $300,000. A capital plan to reconfigure the Jameson athletic complex came back at $769,000 and was set aside; a scaled-back Jameson Field 2 renovation proposal of $79,000 is under review.
