The committee, chaired by Stephen Bonder, unanimously approved an $11,637.20 transfer for unbudgeted Norfolk Agricultural School special education and transportation costs, a $33,000 transfer for repairs to a 2004 Pierce tanker the fire chief said would cost roughly $1.4 million to replace, and a $15,364.24 transfer covering cost overruns from a Woodhaven-Leland Farms water supply consolidation project delayed when a three-week DEP shutdown stretched to seven weeks. After nearly two hours of questioning Recreation Coordinator Dave Walsh and commission representatives, four members indicated support for recommending a $50,000 general fund appropriation — down from the department's requested $100,000 — paired with a revolving fund spending cap of $300,000, with the final vote deferred to Saturday's public hearing.

Committee member Divya questioned whether the department, which projects $120,000 of its $212,000 in revolving revenue from third-party field rentals, functions more as "a field rental business" than a community recreation provider.
