Sherborn Advisory Committee tables chair election, bracing for a $700,000 budget gap. The committee voted 7-0 to approve its July 13 minutes and welcomed new member Ben McKenzie-Greed, a MathWorks CFO, but could not agree on who would succeed outgoing chair Stephen Bond, who said, "Unfortunately, I'm unable to take on that responsibility." Town Administrator Jeremy Marcet told members Sherborn's levy capacity has fallen from $1.6 million in 2022 to roughly $70,000, meaning fiscal 2028 will likely require a Proposition 2½ override: matching the town's five-year average 4.75 percent budget growth would need $1.7 million against just $1 million available within the levy limit. Marcet said "you don't have an expense issue, you have a revenue issue," citing a projected 10 to 15 percent health insurance increase and an $83,000 rise in regional dispatch costs.
The committee tabled its leadership vote to September 23.
