SHERBORN — The Sherborn Personnel Board approved revisions to six municipal job descriptions and deferred its FY28 cost-of-living recommendation while weighing a proposal that could eliminate the board itself. Members Natalie and Mary Moore voted unanimously, with the chair, to approve updated descriptions for the sustainability coordinator, three Board of Health positions, and two assessor's office roles, the latter following edits from Assessor Steve McCarthy and Director of Assessing Amy. Health Agent Mark Orem flagged that lead paint testing has been regionalized by the state, prompting a required language change.
Former board member Nancy Hess told the board during public comment it remains the only advocate for roughly 90 non-union employees, warning against letting them "be the easiest route of balancing the budget." The board also discussed a governance task force recommendation, presented to the Select Board by chair Brian Connolly, that could shift personnel authority to the town administrator's office — a change the board's chair said she supports but which would require a town meeting vote.
