Select Board · Meeting of August 12, 2026
Sherborn's Select Board voted 4-1 to hire Heather White of Harrington Heep as town counsel, with Paul DeRensis dissenting over the firm's past tenure with the town. The board separately retained Chris Petrini as special counsel on the Richard Thompson litigation, 4-0 with DeRensis abstaining, citing his proposed rate as too high. Fire Chief Zach Ward got a unanimous $1,352.39 match from surplus funds for a FEMA-funded exhaust system, and the Conservation Commission received $7,938 from wetland filing fees for agent salary, with Chair Steven Tsai recused.
The board unanimously let the Sherborn Yacht Club sell up to 20 season Farm Pond passes to non-resident sailing and swim program families at $300 each. The biggest fight generated no vote: nearly an hour on transfer station commercial-waste fees, with commenter Sean Hogan warning "you have no idea what you're voting on" before the board sent the issue back to a working group.
