SHERBORN — Dover-Sherborn School Committee unanimously approved a student field trip and heard warnings of a razor-thin budget finish for fiscal year 2026. Business Administrator Dawn told the committee that substitute costs are already $80,000 over budget and that fully electrified HVAC units at the high school and Pine Hill Elementary drove electricity bills as high as 141 percent above prior-year levels during winter months, pushing the district closer to its spending limit than at any point in her ten-year tenure. Superintendent McCoy announced the hire of Emily Rosenthal from Needham Public Schools as the new middle school assistant principal and outlined a no-vote-required pilot to place a K-12 curriculum coordinator and a new 6-12 instructional coach on the regional campus next year, funded by an unexpected teacher retirement.

Two Dover residents made public comment urging the committee to update its 2012-era athletic sponsorship policy, citing a $35,000 scoreboard that current fundraising rules would take 35 years to afford.
