Sherborn School Committee closes out a tight FY26 budget and locks in a long-overdue stipend. The committee's finance official, identified as Ms. Petra, reported the district finished fiscal year 2026 within about $9,000 of its salary budget but ran $265,000 over on out-of-district special education placements, covered by drawing an additional $241,000 from the district's special education "circuit breaker" reserve rather than asking the town for supplemental funds.
The district ultimately returned just $590 to the town. "We have no protection from move-ins from out of state," Petra told the committee, citing unpredictable special education costs in both Sherborn and Dover. Members voted 3-0 on three separate roll calls to approve the Pine Hill School Improvement Plan, reappoint a Medicaid liaison, and retroactively formalize a stipend, now built into Appendix C of the district's educator contract, for teacher Kelly Hodge's decade-plus volunteer run of the school's talent show.
The committee also adopted new town/non-town building rental rates for Pine Hill, retroactive to July 1.
