Capital Planning · Meeting of August 18, 2026
Sherborn's Capital Budget Committee elected Peter Morse chair and voted to move up departments' capital-request deadlines ahead of the December 1 bylaw date. Members approved the June 16 minutes as corrected, 3-0, and unanimously authorized Town Administrator Jeremy to aggregate all departments' six-year capital plans. Shared sustainability manager Amelia told the panel the town's new Climate Leaders certification raises its competitive grant ceiling from $250,000 to $1 million, funding she hopes to use on Pine Hill School heat pumps projected to cut heating load nearly 40 percent.
She said the police station's Level 3 EV charger generates enough revenue to largely cover the police fleet's operating costs, while the Level 2 charger loses money, and a new dedicated charger would cost $50,000 to $100,000. A $300,000 Farm Pond grant request was not awarded this cycle; a separate $50,000 MVP 2.0 communications grant was. "It's my job to make sure that we're not killing the planet," Amelia said, explaining why she does not use artificial intelligence tools.
