School Committee · Meeting of March 31, 2026

SHERBORN — Dover-Sherborn's three school committees reviewed new AI use guidelines and confirmed June 18 as the last day of school. Director of Educational Technology Brandon Hall and High School English Department Head Gretchen Donoghue presented a color-coded framework, developed after six educators attended a February conference in Natick, that sets rules for tools like Google Gemini. Hall said the goal was ensuring "no student PII in bots ever." Superintendent Elizabeth McCoy told committees that staff attitudes have shifted: a prior training session found roughly 80 percent of faculty called AI use cheating, versus today's focus on "how are you using it." The Sherborn, Dover and Regional committees each voted unanimously by roll call to set the school year's final day as June 18, an early release day, keeping the district at 181 instructional days.
