Zoning Board approves Washington Street home setback non-conformity
Zoning Board of Appeals · Meeting of March 24, 2026
Sherborn Zoning Board unanimously backs front setback variance for Washington Street home. Chair Zachary McBride and the board approved Edward Paturzo's Finding to increase the front setback from 45.1 feet to 27.6 feet, citing Massachusetts General Law 40A Section 6 case law permitting such non-conformity increases when not substantially detrimental to the neighborhood. Paturzo's project involves demolishing an existing dwelling and carport and constructing a new single-family home with an attached 2-bay garage; wetlands and septic placement constraints prevented meeting the original setback.
Side and rear setbacks will conform to Sherborn regulations.
