Water tank replacement approved by capital budget panel

Sherborn capital committee approves water tank replacement. The Capital Budget Committee voted unanimously to fund the Pine Hill water tank replacement project, estimated at $506,250, which is already running one year behind a state Department of Environmental Protection mandate. The committee deferred votes on a $75,000 police vehicle request and an $80,000 assessor computer system replacement, both to be reconsidered at the February 17 meeting.
Committee Chairman Peter Moores presented analysis showing town debt service has ranged from 5.3 to 5.6 percent of the operating budget against a five percent threshold, with projected additional costs if all FY2027 capital requests are approved. The Select Board separately voted to withdraw the Farm Pond erosion control request and pursue grant funding instead.
