Sherborn Warns Well Owners As Drought Persists
Town officials issued a fresh advisory to private well owners on Tuesday, warning that ongoing drought conditions could threaten both the quantity and quality of groundwater across Sherborn.

The Board of Health is urging residents with private wells to monitor their water use closely as the region remains in drought, according to a News Flash notice posted Tuesday morning. The town warned that declining groundwater elevations can affect both supply and water quality, and it directed anyone with concerns about their well to contact the Board of Health directly.
The advisory adds to a string of water-related issues the town has flagged in recent months, including prior notices about PFAS6 levels exceeding drinking-water standards at wells serving the Town Hall campus, Library, Police Station, and Community Center, and an ongoing Draft Phosphorus Control Plan tied to state stormwater permitting requirements.
Separately, the town's Select Board approved Sherborn's Housing Production Plan at its June 16 meeting, with the full document now posted on the town website for residents to review.

The Sherborn Library kept up its packed summer calendar this week, with a program scheduled for 6:30 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, as part of its ongoing "Summer Reading 2026: Plant a Seed, Read" initiative running through August 31. A second event is on the books for 2 p.m. on July 23.
The library continues to promote its expanded local history offerings, including recent Zoom recordings on topics such as "King Philip's War: America's Forgotten Conflict" and Black Patriots and the Revolution, part of its broader push into local history and genealogy programming since its 2023 renovation.
The library is also seeking two part-time Student Library Aides, according to a posting on its news page, continuing its practice of hiring student staff for the newly expanded building.
