Sherborn faces $700K FY2028 budget gap, override likely
Sherborn Advisory Committee heard detailed fiscal challenges for FY2028.
Advisory Committee · Meeting of September 16, 2026
Sherborn Advisory Committee heard detailed fiscal challenges for FY2028. Town Administrator Jeremy Marsette reported the town faces a structural budget gap of approximately $700,000, with available levy capacity shrunk to roughly $70,000 in FY2027 from $1.6 million in FY2022; health insurance costs are projected to increase by 10 to 15 percent and the regional dispatch agreement will add approximately $83,000. A Proposition 2½ operating override appears likely and will require both Town Meeting approval and a subsequent ballot vote.
The Committee introduced new member Ben McKenzie-Grieve, a CFO at MathWorks with a CPA designation, and deferred the election of chair and vice chair until September 23.
