Sherborn energy committee shifts renewable strategy in contract renewal. The Energy and Sustainability Committee endorsed pursuing National Wind RECs instead of Class 1 RECs for the town's upcoming electricity supply agreement, at a marginal cost increase of 2 to 3 tenths of a cent per kilowatt hour above the basic option. All six committee members attended the meeting led by Chair Michael Lesser, responding to federal policy changes that have reduced REC effectiveness in spurring new renewable projects.
Preliminary pricing is due within two weeks, with a Select Board presentation scheduled for February 12, 2026, and a final decision targeted for March 4, 2026.
