Groundwater Protection Committee · Meeting of May 20, 2026

Sherborn groundwater committee flagged first-ever private well with excess nitrate. The Groundwater Protection Committee approved prior minutes and discussed water-quality concerns, including a homeowner's well testing just above the state maximum contaminant limit of 10 ppm nitrate, the first instance in Sherborn history. Public water supply wells showed PFAS fluctuations in recent testing: the Town Center well at 14.6 ppt and a nearby church well at 24.2 ppt.

The committee reviewed a proposed 250-unit Holliston apartment development at 194 Lowland Street featuring a 48,060-gallon-per-day wastewater treatment system adjacent to Sherborn's Zone 2 water supply protection area. All members indicated intent to seek reappointment in June.
