Board of Health Urges Well Owners to Watch Water Use Amid Drought

SHERBORN — The town is asking private well owners to monitor their water use as drought conditions continue to affect groundwater levels across Sherborn.

The Sherborn Board of Health issued a reminder this week about drought resources available to residents who rely on private wells. Town officials warned that continuing dry conditions can cause groundwater elevations to decline, which may affect both the quantity and quality of well water. Residents with concerns about their private wells are encouraged to contact the Board of Health directly.

Separately, the town's website continues to list several open items of note for residents, including results from Sherborn's 2026 Open Space and Recreation Plan Community Survey, summer hours now in effect at Town Hall as of July 6, and a call for volunteers for the Sherborn Town Forest Wood Cutting Program. The Select Board approved the town's Housing Production Plan at its June 16 meeting, according to the town's website.

COMMUNITY & ARTS

The Sherborn Library's summer hours remain in effect, with the building open Monday through Saturday and closed Sundays. The library's "Summer Reading 2026: Plant a Seed, Read" program is underway through the summer.

Two upcoming library events are on the calendar: a program on July 15 at 6:30 p.m. and another on July 23 at 2:00 p.m., part of the library's ongoing summer programming season that runs from June 1 through August 31.

COMING UP

The Open Space Committee meets Friday, July 10. The Government Task Force lll and the Advisory Committee both meet Monday, July 13. The Town Forest Committee meets Wednesday, July 15, and the library has a program scheduled that same evening at 6:30 p.m. A second library program follows on July 23 at 2:00 p.m.
